Nile
Jewelry artist and sculptor Björn Weckström is Finland's most internationally known jewelry designer. The sculptural jewelry designed by Weckström in the 1960s marked a revolution in the then still very conservative jewelry world and made him world famous. The design language of jewelry designed by Björn Weckström often draws its inspiration from nature, its elements and phenomena. The jewelry designed by Weckström is also characterized by placing different surfaces in a bold, often dramatic dialogue. The satin-like shimmering surface of Nile jewelry is modeled on papyrus reeds. The uniform surface is interrupted by a mirror-clear silver arch. Nile refers to the Nile, from the reeds that grew in the estuary, the ancient Egyptians learned to make papyrus.
